According to Crainsnewyork.com, “A regulatory crackdown on process servers stems from an investigation by Consumer Affairs that found widespread violations of record-keeping requirements… The investigation found that process servers intentionally failed to serve document to parties in lawsuits – a practice known as “sewer service” – – in apparent efforts to prevent them from showing up in court to defend themselves. Complaints arose about judgments being rendered against people who never knew they had been sued.”
In this video, Mario Pecoraro, CEO of Avvocato Litigation Support International discusses this case and how to protect yourself from illegal process servers. Visit our Avvocato Litigation Support International web page here.
