Mario Pecoraro, CEO of Alliance Risk Group, will make a presentation on the topic of “Risk Management in the Hiring Practice” on Thursday, May 7, from 10:30 am – 11:15 am at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Syracuse, New York.
With security issues becoming more of a concern, employers must be vigilant in their hiring practices. This, however, is becoming more difficult in light of Ban the Box laws which prohibit questions about criminal convictions on employment applications and over-zealous Equal Employment Opportunity Commission regulators who sometimes pursue baseless lawsuits against employers which costs them hundreds of thousands of dollars to defend. Because of this, a new bill is being considered in Congress called the “Certainty in Enforcement Act of 2014” which seeks to limit EEOC authority to “guidance” and not “enforcement.” This important piece of legislation will have a major impact on many industry hiring practices including Health Care, Childcare, In-home Services, Policing, Security, Education, Finance, Employee Benefits and Fiduciary Duties.
