What is due diligence?
If you’re familiar with investigations, you’ve likely heard the term “due diligence” used in the past. What does it mean, exactly? By definition, due diligence indicates reasonable steps taken by a person in order to satisfy a legal requirement. This becomes relevant during process service, background checks, and fraud investigations. In all cases, it’s the duty of the investigator to ensure no stone is left unturned and all available avenues for the collection of information have been explored. Due diligence is about making every available effort to ensure the accuracy of information and mitigation of risk.
