According to a report released on September 24, 2013, by the National Insurance Crime Bureau, (NICB) New York State ranked 3rd in Workers’ Compensation Questionable Claims.
Questionable claims are those that are referred to the NICB for closer review and investigation based on one or more indicators of possible fraud. NICB reported that while the number of Worker’s Comp claims has been decreasing, the percentage deemed “questionable” has been rising. California ranked first with a total of 2,270 questionable workers’ compensation claims, followed by Illinois with 689 and New York with 688.
